OECD Global Forum and sectoral fora

The OECD has launched different forums to promote and enhance alignment on Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and promote multi-stakeholder exchange, namely:

– Global Forum on Responsible Business Conduct (GFRBC). Launched in 2013, GFRBC is an annual flagship event on RBC which brings together governments, businesses, trade unions and civil society to promote international dialogue on RBC and contribute to the effective implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (MNE Guidelines). GFRBC remains an important opportunity to engage with high-level economic thinkers, industry thought-leaders, and highlights the benefits of the multi-disciplinary approach to RBC.

– Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. This annual event provides an opportunity to discuss the implementation of the OECD Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. It brings together over 800 representatives from government, business, trade unions and civil society to share learnings on implementing labour, human rights, environmental and integrity due diligence in the sector across geographies, as well as to address endemic and emerging risks and issues, through collective action. Policy Makers Roundtable takes place alongside the Forum and it is open to government officials from OECD members and adhering governments, as well as governments from key economies across the value chain and representatives from intergovernmental organisations, to share relevant policy updates for responsible supply chains in the sector. The Forum also provides the framework for the annual OECD Manufacturers Network meeting convening garment, footwear, leather and textile associations, for manufacturers to discuss and share experiences on implementing due diligence in their operations and supply chain, build a common understanding of due diligence topics and challenges, and bring a shared voice to the broader discussions at the annual OECD Garment Forum.

– OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains. This forum provides an opportunity to review and discuss the implementation of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas and other initiatives to enable responsible mineral production and sourcing. The forum welcomes well over 1000 participants annually, including representatives of governments and non-governmental organisations, the private sector and civil society. Key topics of discussion have spanned responsible engagement of the informal sector in support of the low-carbon transition, policy and regulatory issues related to minerals due diligence, as well as monitoring and evaluation to identify systemic blockages to due diligence and using due diligence to address emerging risks, particularly in conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
