Agreements concluded between ITF and apparel brands on human rights due diligence in transport supply chains

This fiche presents three agreements signed between the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and apparel brands, based solely on ITF press releases, as the agreements themselves are not publicly available. The summaries therefore reflect only the information disclosed by ITF in its published communications.

 

1. TFG Brands London – ITF

Date: 29 March 2023
Parties: TFG Brands London (Hobbs, Whistles, Phase Eight, Inside Story) and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF)
Nature: Cooperation agreement on human rights due diligence (HRDD) in transport and logistics.

Key elements (press release–based):

  • The parties will work together to examine labour rights risks across all directly operated and subcontracted transportation operations, including shipping, freight, and warehouses.
  • Reference is made to UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, ILO standards, and OECD Guidelines.
  • Establishment of a technical working group between ITF and the company.
  • Commitment to “meaningfully engage with the union throughout the entire transport-related HRDD process.”

 

2. New Look – ITF

Date: 28 August 2024
Parties: New Look and ITF
Nature: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on HRDD in transport supply chains.

Key elements (press release–based):

  • New Look will conduct HRDD across its transport and logistics supply chain, covering both direct operations and subcontracted logistics.
  • HRDD will be implemented in full consultation with ITF.
  • Commitment to freedom of association in logistics operations, ensuring that ITF-affiliated unions may organise and access sites.
  • The company commits to providing or cooperating in remediation, including through collective bargaining with ITF affiliates.

 

3. ASOS – ITF

Date: 8 September 2025
Parties: ASOS plc and ITF
Nature: Legally binding agreement on HRDD in global transport and logistics operations.

Key elements (press release–based):

  • Cooperation to design and implement HRDD covering transport/logistics globally, including subcontracted operations.
  • Joint work on risk identification, prevention, mitigation, and remedies where violations occur.
  • Agreement includes climate change and gender equality considerations within transport/logistics due diligence.
  • Creation of a joint technical working group meeting twice annually.
